Habits Worth Getting Addicted To!

I'm not a big fan of New Year's resolutions, but here are some habits that make perfect sense and have the potential to completely change your mindset and wellness! Don’t believe me? Try it, and even if you agree, you will be unrecognizable by 2023's midpoint.

Join the 5 AM Club!

There has to be some benefit to waking up at 5 a.m., though I confess that my bed is my favorite hello and hardest goodbye. But when an entire book is dedicated to this supposed life hack, you begin to wonder if you should be paying attention. Check out The 5 AM Club: Own Your Morning. Elevate Your Life by Robin Sharma!

For one thing, waking up early puts you ahead of everyone else and gives you more time to...

  • Workout

  • Plan out your day

  • Work on a task for your own self, the end goal, side hustle, etc.

  • Be more productive

This gives you more time to achieve your goals, but more importantly for me, it allows me to start the day at my own pace and not feel anxious or panicked when I wake up.

BEFORE BEDTIME THOUGHTS:

If you're going to commit to getting up earlier in the morning, it makes sense to invest in quality sleep, and writing down your thoughts at the end of the day helps you do just that.

Create this habit by writing down…

  • Tomorrow’s priorities, goals, and tasks

  • The things for which you are thankful and grateful

  • anything that didn't go well or was negative and reframing it positively.

This has helped me manage my inner voice, improved my mental wellbeing, and eliminated the tossing and turning and rerunning of the day's events in my mind while trying to sleep.

INVEST IN SELF-LEARNING:

You can get really hardcore with this and invest time in an online course that can earn you some cash. The recommended skills are…

  • Coding

  • YouTube

  • Copywriting/Content Creation

  • Digital Marketing

However, you do not have to be that tough. I enjoy self-improvement, so here is my reading list for 2023…

For the more productive me:..

For the more spiritual me…

I also use apps and websites to gather knowledge and information, which helps me stay informed and relevant in an ever-changing world.

60 MINUTES OF EXERCISE:

Balancing physical and mental health means that you need to spend a minimum of an hour looking after and keeping your body fit. It does not matter what you do as long as you spend at least 60 minutes improving your…

  • Strength

  • Flexibility

  • Cardio

MEDITATE OR SIT WITH YOURSELF:

Taking time to deal with the thoughts that bombard you and cause overwhelm is important, if not necessary, in a world where overstimulation is the norm.

  • Sit in silence

  • Be mindful

  • Take a brain break

  • Breath

  • Live in the moment

This allows you to reframe your perspective, deal with emotions, and formulate a better response to anything. This is the most underrated step toward mental wellbeing. Take as many as you need when you need them.

PREPARE FOR SLEEP:

Adding to the points above, creating a sleep schedule is very helpful and is simple as 3-2-1…

  • 3 – No food 3 hours before bed

  • 2 – No drinks 2 hours before bed

  • 1 – No blue light 1 hour before bed

READ:

Before going to bed, I like to finish a chapter of whatever I'm reading. Choose a time that is convenient for you and read something, whether it is 20 pages, a chapter, or even a page.

Reading increases…

  • Knowledge

  • Focus

  • Imagination

DRINK WATER:

Staying hydrated is hard but essential since you are 80% water after all. If you are not very good at drinking 8 glasses consistently, at least make it a point to have water with your main meals, and your health will change.
